This reading machine helps children practice blending the letter sounds they've already learnt with simple phonetically decodable CVC words. The letters are from Phase 2 Phonics of the Letters and Sounds document s,a,t,p,i and n. Children in reception learn this sounds first usually in this order. In this video I sound out the words for the children and blend them together to say the word.

CVC words are three letter words that follow a consonant/vowel/consonant pattern. CVC words are considered the simplest words for emerging readers to decode by blending the three sounds together. I have organized my CVC videos by the same vowel sound in the middle. These CVC words have the short vowel sound a .

Jolly Phonics is a program designed to help children learn the name and sounds of letters. I have put together all the Jolly Phonic songs from Phase Two, which consists all the letter sounds from A-Z apart from Q as it is a tricky sound and is part of Phase Three as 'qu'. Before children can read or start to read they need to have some understandance of letter sounds and this is a fun way of learning them.
