This training explains the basics of what happens to families when parents are deported, the differences between state and federal foster care, and how to minimize the chances that your children end up in any foster care when there are immigration issues. We then cover common scenarios, like what to do if a parent would like their children to come to their home country, what to do if there are custody orders already, and how parents can reunify after a separation.
Presenters: Meredith Wallis from Legal Services for Prisoners with Children and Sharon Balmer Cartagena from Public Counsel
