The Sindh Department of Sports organized the Karachi South District Girls Winter Sports Festival, during which a ceremony was also held to distribute prize money amounting to Rs. 600,000 among Sindh athletes who achieved success in the 9th South Asian Karate Championship.
The chief guest of the ceremony was Secretary Sports Sindh, Munwar Ali Mahesar. Director Sports Ishaq, Deputy Director Habibullah, District Sports Officers Fareed Ali, Ismail Shah, Shakeel Ahmed, and Sunny Parvez were also present on the occasion.
During the ceremony, players who won medals for the country by achieving success in the 9th South Asian Karate Championship held in Sri Lanka were awarded cash prizes by the Sindh Government.
According to the spokesperson, among the players receiving cash awards, Ayana Noel Arthur (Gold Medal) was awarded Rs. 200,000, Arisha Nadeem (Silver Medal) received Rs. 100,000, while Abdul Rehman, Cyrus, Tasaddaq, and Sumra Ejaz were awarded Rs. 100,000 each for winning Bronze Medals.
Addressing the ceremony, Secretary Sports Sindh Munwar Ali Mahesar said that the Sindh Government is taking practical steps for the promotion of sports and the welfare of athletes. He added that efforts are being made to encourage talented players and to recognize their hard work in a timely manner.
He further stated that the increasing participation of female athletes in sports is encouraging and reflects a positive change in society. The Sindh Government is committed to providing all possible facilities to women athletes.
The Secretary Sports informed that a total of Rs. 600,000 in prize money was distributed among players who achieved success in international karate competitions.
On this occasion, District Sports Officer Fareed Ali said that girls’ cricket and table tennis competitions were also held during the festival, in which female students participated with great enthusiasm.
According to the spokesperson, Nazneen and Muskan secured first position in the girls’ table tennis competitions, while Rania and Misbah secured second position.
The spokesperson further said that in the girls’ cricket match, KMA Girls Degree College emerged as the winner, while TIA Academy secured the runner-up position.
At the conclusion of the event, medals and certificates were distributed among the winning female athletes.
