If you want to trade reversals these are the 4 basic patterns you should be familiar with;
1) Head and Shoulders, bulls push up, bulls push up again reaching new highs before retracing and then bulls subsequently again try to push up but fail to reach new highs.
2) Double Top / Double Bottom - pretty much as it says - market pushes up, comes down - pushes up again, fails and comes down again.
3) Triple Top / Triple Bottom - again self explanatory and similar. A little bit more powerful as they show a little bit more intensity.
4) Rounding Top / Bottom - these are a little bit harder to spot. You have a little smile formation - bears running out of steam - buyers slowly starting to push it back up. This is more of a swing trading pattern.
