This video documents a full day of exploration, food, ancient history, and real encounters in 2025. We started the morning in our Airbnb with a peaceful breakfast of fresh flatbread, hummus, labneh, olives, and hot tea. From there, we headed to the Amman Citadel, one of the city’s most iconic landmarks. Perched high above the city, the Citadel offers incredible panoramic views and ancient ruins dating back thousands of years. We explored the Temple of Hercules and remains from the Roman, Byzantine, and Umayyad eras — each piece of stone telling part of Jordan’s deep history. The atmosphere was quiet, powerful, and deeply reflective.
Next, we walked down to the Roman Theatre — a massive amphitheater carved into the hillside that once held over 6,000 people. Standing in its center and hearing your own echo brings history to life. The craftsmanship and scale are breathtaking, showing just how advanced Roman engineering was.
After leaving the theatre, we drove straight into Amman’s chaotic and lively traffic — an experience in itself. Horns, vendors, people, and animals all move in one unpredictable rhythm. Eventually, we stopped along a bustling street filled with life: voices calling out, grills sizzling, and a constant movement of people. We ducked into a small local food shop that clearly hadn’t seen many tourists. No English menus, no signs for travelers — just real Jordanian life.
There, I tried Mansaf, Jordan’s national dish, for the first time. The combination of textures and flavors was incredible — rich, savory, and distinctly Jordanian. It wasn’t just a meal, it was a cultural experience that said everything about Jordanian hospitality.
After lunch, we visited the Jordan Museum, one of the country’s most impressive collections of artifacts. The highlight was seeing the Dead Sea Scrolls — ancient biblical texts that are among the oldest known. Standing before them was humbling and gave us a deeper appreciation for the historical and spiritual weight of this region.
As evening came, we took a short break at our Airbnb to recharge before heading out again. For dinner, we went to one of Amman’s most famous restaurants — Abu Jbara. Locals and travelers alike had told us it was a must-visit, and they were absolutely right. The table filled with hummus, fatteh, Arabic salad, foul, and endless baskets of warm pita. Every bite was packed with flavor, each dish perfectly balanced. It was the kind of meal that makes you pause, look around, and realize you’re somewhere truly special.
On the way back, we stopped by a small neighborhood shop for snacks and drinks. Inside, I met a young boy — just another customer — who looked at us, smiled, and said simply, “Free Palestine!” It was an unexpected and powerful reminder of the identity, emotion, and solidarity woven into daily life here.
This day in Amman was full of discovery — from ancient ruins and vibrant markets to unforgettable meals and small, meaningful encounters. It was more than sightseeing; it was immersion. Jordan is a country where history lives beside modern life, and where every person you meet has a story to share.
