The supply of critical metals and minerals can be crucial to the make the transition to a fossil-free economy possible, and to keep with the digital development. To make sure Europe won´t be left in future shortage of these critical raw materials, om march 17th 2023 the European Commission presented a proposal to an action plan: A new Critical Raw Materials Act. Attending a seminar at the Swedish Royal Academy of Engineering Sciences (IVA), Peter Handley, Head of the Energy-Intensive Industries and Raw Materials Unit at the European Commission, summarized what this proposal to a new legislative document is all about.
