3 Eddie Van Halen Licks From 1992

Here's the next episode of Three-For-All with 3 Eddie Van Halen Licks From 1992. I've had numerous requests to feature more music/ideas from the late-great Edward Van Halen, and while I've created more Van Halen-related content compared to anything/anyone else on my channel, there's so much more to explore and learn about King Edward, as you'll see in this episode.

This lesson features some slick licks/ideas pulled from some candid backstage footage that appeared online in October of 2020. In the video, Eddie is seen playing a borrowed Strat backstage while jamming with a mysterious (and unseen) bassist. Eddie is caught pulling out some authentically bluesy licks and phrases during the over 7-minute jam, not to mention showcasing lots of unusually playful fretboard antics, with plenty of tapping, bar tricks, harmonics, and more!

The ideas shared in this lesson include a slick open position blues phrase with plenty of feel and authority, a crafty bluesy string bending idea, a funky hybrid-picked open string pull-off phrase, and a wicked bar-manipulated slide guitar emulation phrase - which is like icing on the blues-rock cake in this lesson!

It's such a rare treat to see Eddie being himself and having fun with a guitar in his hands like this. He almost looks/acts like an excited child with a new toy in this footage, while he's randomly jamming backstage at an arena hosting a Van Halen concert in Huntsville, Alabama that night. Needless to say, this is some really great candid and spontaneous footage of Eddie in the zone and completely in his element!
