Germany's Oldest City with a Fairytale Christmas Market | Trier | Weihnachtsmarkt | Solo Travel Vlog

This year I really wanted to visit a traditional German Christmas Market but away from the biggest cities.

Trier is the oldest city in Germany founded during the Roman era. There are many Roman and medieval sites to see in the city and there is no mass international tourism here so the Christmas Market was just the right size and not too busy or too expensive!

I spent the first day exploring this fairytale Christmas Market then I visited the historical sites. Trier is a special city, quite small, full of history with the oldest Cathedral & oldest bridge in Germany & a fabulous Christmas Market!

The nearest international airport with routes from my local airport was Luxembourg. From there, I took a bus to the main train station and then a direct train to Trier which took about an hour. Public transport in Luxembourg was free.
