Draíocht: Youth Voices | Emmanuel Samuel

Draíocht is Music Generation Galway City programme which promotes youth voices through a series of stunning live music videos. Beautifully filmed in the newly developed GCC Music Centre in Galway Community College, the series features young songwriters, musicians and bands from across Galway city performing their own songs and contributing their voices to a new sustainable vision for original music in Galway.

Supported by the Local Creative Youth Partnership with the GRETB, Music Generation Ireland and Creative Ireland - Draíocht is a Music Generation Galway City programme which promotes youth voices through a series of live music videos.

::EMMANUEL SAMUEL::
Emmanuel Samuel is a rapper from Galway who has been making music for about a year. Influenced by NLE Choppa, Ron Suno and Pop Smoke this talented young artist is continuing to develop his skills and experience through the FLO/BEATS rap, hip-hop and music production project with Music Generation.

“I want to get my own equipment so I can start learning how to produce music myself so that’s one of the other reasons I went to Music Generation as well. I love rap of course and I really hope I can go far with it.”

Music Generation is a national partnership programme whose mission is to create inspiring experiences for children and young people through music by giving them opportunities to create, play and perform music in their own communities and on their own terms. Music Generation Galway City provides opportunities to access a range of high quality, subsidised vocal and instrumental tuition and is managed and supported locally by The GRETB, Galway City Council, Galway City Partnership, Foróige, Youth Work Ireland and Involve. Initiated by Music Network, Music Generation is co-funded by U2, The Ireland Funds, the Department of Education and Skills and Local Music Education Partnerships (LMEPs).

::GCC MUSIC CENTRE::
GCC Music Centre is a Music Generation Galway City initiative to develop a youth-friendly space in Galway City providing facilities for live music performance, stage rehearsals, studio recording, music workshops and small group music lessons.

The aim of GCC Music Centre is to become a dedicated music hub and resource for music makers and performers with a focus on those starting out on their journeys, such as young people and students of Galway Community College’s creative PLC courses.

The ethos of GCC Music Centre is to provide a welcoming, accessible and supportive environment for young people interested in music and to contribute to a new sustainable vision for local music - one that supports emerging talent, celebrates Galway’s original music heritage and gives opportunities to the next generation of songwriters, musicians, promoters, designers, photographers and sound engineers.
