’Twas the Night Before Nativity is a poetic retelling of the birth of Christ, written in the familiar rhythm of A Visit from St. Nicholas but rooted deeply in biblical geography, ancient Near Eastern history, and the Orthodox Christian vision of the Incarnation.
Journey with Joseph and the Virgin Mary down the historic Way of the Patriarchs, past Bethel and Shiloh, toward the humble cave outside Bethlehem—the House of the Bread. Watch as shepherds on Judea’s hillsides receive the angelic proclamation, and wise men follow the ancient star from the East.
This song was written to help families enter more fully into the mystery, beauty, and historical reality of Christ’s birth—celebrating the Feast with wonder and gratitude.
Christ is born! Glorify Him!
