Andover Norton (Commando) - New 13mm Bore Master Cylinder Review (2) Disassembly

In this video, I’m disassembling the old Lockheed Master Cylinder (MC) that was original to the Commando. It’s been a decent brake, but unfortunately let me down recently and I pledged to upgrade it.

It’s a pretty straight-forward process. I don’t have a vacuum kit but then I don’t need to completely drain the fluid out of the bike since I’m only changing the MC unit.

A few key points noted during the disassembly process are:

1. Don’t get ANY brake fluid anywhere on the bike! It’s a great paint stripper and chrome-tarnisher!
2. Instead of trying to unscrew the light switch unit with the wires still attached, make sure that you undo the spade connectors first.
3. Instead of trying to remove the brake hose connection from the MC unit while it is still fitted to the handlebar, first remove the MC
from the handlebar and then essentially unscrew the MC off the hose connection. That way, you won’t be twisting the (braded) hose unnecessarily
