The History:
HoliMont's origins trace back to the 1930s, with some of the earliest skiing in New York served by a rope tow on Greer Hill. HoliMont officially commenced operations in 1962 over where the Exhibition Express operates now. Fast forward to 1982 and a Borvig double was installed where the Cascade Quad sits now. This lift operated for 13 years until it was replaced by a Garaventa-CTEC quad in 1995. Since the double was still relatively new, it was relocated to the new Greer area of the mountain. The Greer Double does not run exactly where the original site of Greer Hill was, but serves some of HoliMont's best terrain and expanded what HoliMont had to offer.
The Lift:
Although it was installed in this location in 1995, the Greer Double is a 1982 Borvig double that was originally installed where Cascade operates now. It uses a Borvig bottom quad-legged drive terminal with counterweight tensioning that has a more modern motor room enclosure that was likely added when it was relocated in 1995. Greer has Borvig bail double carriers and all other parts are manufactured by Borvig as well. Capacity is rated at 1,200 p/h at a design speed of 450 ft/min which it seems to run close to.
