The Chadron Cardinals took on the Ashland-Greenwood Bluejays in the first round of the Class C-1 playoffs Friday. The Cardinals were looking for a big upset coming in as the 13 seed against the 4th seeded Bluejays.
The Cardinals got the ball first and struggled to gain any traction on offense. The Bluejays the ball on the Cardinals 24 yard line after a punt got in the win. They capitalized on the field position with a Derek Tonjes touchdown pass to Logan Fangmeyer. One of a C-1 playoff record tying six touchdowns from Tonjes.
