Santa Barbara Airlines Flight 518 - Crash Animation

Santa Barbara Airlines Flight 518, an ATR 42-300 was a flight between Merida and Caracas in Venezuela on February 21, 2008 with 46 people on board.

The Crash:
Merida is surrounded by high mountains and flights at night are prohibited at the airport for safety reasons. The flight was the last flight of the day and departed around 5:00pm. Shortly after take-off, the pilots got confused in what direction they were going and caused the plane to slam into a mountain ridge killing all on board.
