Poenari Castle and Vlad Tepes fortress

The #Poenari #Castle (#Vlad Tepes #fortress) is located on a mountain peak overlooking the #Arges gorges, near Arefu, 4 kilometers from the dam and the lake from #Vidraru, on the valley below, near the Vidraru hydroelectric power plant.

The #legend tells us that Vlad Tepes, being pursued by the #Turks, escaped by taking refuge in this fortress, after he shod his horses with horseshoes upside down, with his face back, thus confusing his pursuers.

Currently, the ruins of the fortress are arranged as a tourist attraction and are visited by Romanian and foreign tourists.

From the level of the fortress you can admire the #beautiful #views of the Argeș valley.
