TØYEN PARKRUN REVIEW Event #218 - My First Nordic Parkrun in Norway!

Tøyen Parkrun! With it being icy weather at the moment we did the winter course which is a five lap, fairly hilly course at Tøyenparken, Oslo. The course is run partly on paved paths and hiking trails! Some sections of the course may accumulate mud, leaves and puddles after rain! Join me as I provide an in-depth review of my Tøyen Parkrun experience.

Tøyen Parkrun start is just below the big white statue. You then run towards the red houses, and between them. Keep right after the houses, around the football pitch. Tøyen parkrun consists of 3.5 loops clockwise around the park and ends on a grassy section by the start. The course is a mixture of hilly ups and downs and flat straights which affords nice views over Oslo. Most of the course is on asphalt, but there are some sections on grass.

Dogs and buggies / prams are allowed at this parkrun. However, there are no public toilets close to the start / finish area. The route is run on paved paths and hiking trails, with a small section on grass, therefore, trail shoes are reccomended. In terms of how busy the parkrun is, it is an average parkrun, however, there is not too much room to overtake throughout the run so amke sure you place yourself relatively close to the front. There are on average 87 runners/joggers/walkers a week. Due to course being fairly hilly and on a mixture of terrains, it is not a great parkrun if you're trying to get a pb but it was good fun!

I will be doing parkruns all over the UK and rest of the world! Every Saturday I take part in a 5K run trying my hardest to get under 20 mins. Tøyen Parkrun is a great run to tick off the "T" on the alphabeteer challenge and it is the fourth "T" I have done! Let me know if you have ever completed the course. Hope you enjoy the video.
