Making Homemade Laundry Detergent With my Momma!

*Disclaimer: The next day, when you go to transfer the detergent from the bucket to your gallon containers, be warned that the detergent will appear to be extremely thick on top (like a thick butter consistency.)
Make sure you stir it well, combining everything again.
Then, using a funnel, transfer the detergent from the bucket to your gallon jugs. Also, don’t forget to have your gallon jugs half full of water before adding the detergent to them.*

How to make homemade laundry detergent:

3 qts. (12 Cups) Steaming Hot Water
1- 14.1 oz. Zote Soap Bar
2 3/4 Cups Borax
2 3/4 Cups Washing Soda
1 Cup Baking Soda
1 Cup OxyClean

Optional
-Scent Boosters (i.e. Downy Unstoppables) or Fabric Safe Essential Oils
-3 TBSP Vegetable Glycerin

-On stove over medium heat, add 3 qts. steaming hot water and grate entire bar of Zote Soap using cheese grater into a large cooking pot.
-Stir until Zote Soap is completely melted.
-Add 2 3/4 cups WASHING soda into mixture.
-Stir until dissolved.
-Fill 5 Gallon bucket HALF FULL of HOT water then pour contents of pot in bucket.
-Add 2 3/4 cups Borax and stir until dissolved.
-Add 1 cup BAKING soda and mix until dissolved.
-Add 1 cup OxyClean and stir until dissolved.

Optional
-Add Scent Boosters and 3 TBSP Vegetable Glycerin and stir until combined.

Fill rest of bucket up with HOT water and leave 2 inch space from top of bucket for soap to rise. Leave in bucket overnight, occasionally stirring if possible.

NEXT DAY- Fill half of each gallon storage container with water then add Homemade Laundry Detergent mixture. Before using detergent to wash laundry, shake well until everything is combined again in jug.

NOW, ENJOY CLEANER CLOTHES AND THAT EXTRA MONEY YOU’VE SAVED!!!
