Conrad Energy’s synchronous condenser site at Eye in Suffolk is one of the largest grid stability projects in the UK. It houses a state-of-the-art synchronous condenser, which will support voltage recovery during faults. The equipment provides short-circuit power, reactive power and inertia which is important as we transition to more renewables.
We are funding, developing, building, operating and maintaining the asset. The project was awarded to Conrad Energy by National Grid as part of their Pathfinder 3 tender process. The Pathfinder 3 projects are expected to achieve over £14 billion of savings for consumers.
