From Karakol in Kyrgyzstan I travel northwards into an extremely remote region of Kazakhstan. The landscapes I travel through are mesmerizing: pine woods, rugged mountains, grasslands, deep gorges and huge semi-deserts. Some of these places looks truely otherwordly - like Charyn Canyon, for example. Will I be able to reach Zharkent, my final destination, or get stranded somewhere on the way? Stay tuned!
