In the early hours of Monday (05:04) 31st of May 1999 armed elements attacked the South Lebanon Army post overlooking Brashit Village in Southern Lebanon calling Whiskey 144 from a firing position in Brashit Village. Thus resulted in W 144 returning fire in the form of Light Machine Gun, Heavy Machine Gun and Mortar into the village.
In UN post 6-42 which was directly below W 144Pte Billy Kedian was on duty and quickly reacted to the situation and rushed to get his comrades from their beds and ushered them to the safety of the post bunker but two mortar rounds hit the post resulting in Billy paying the Ultimate Sacrifice and two others injured one seriously. In no doubt Billy's Bravery and actions on that morning prevented more lives been lost.
