This video explores the history and visible relics of Brooklyn's Floyd Bennett Field which was once slated to be New York major commercial airfield. Many efforts in the 1930's to promote Floyd Bennett Field ultimately failed for a variety of reasons which are discussed in the video, all while searching through the abandoned hangars, buildings, and runways which still remain to this day. Although the airport was discarded as a public flying center in 1941, there were many notable events which took place there in the 1930's and some of these are presented in this video, including the fascinating tale of "Wrong Way Corrigan" and his rogue trans-Atlantic flight.
Correction: In the middle of the video it is mistakenly said that the distance from California to Hawaii is just over 1,000 miles, when the actual distance is about 2,400 miles.
