While playing around after one of our videos with Mild off-roading, we hit a hole with a raised area in the center of the far side. This usually isn’t an issue but the saturated ground and the forward momentum contributed to the Bronco pushing down into the ground just a little too much. After cleaning off most of the remnants of fun we looked at the underbody panels and noticed a hole in one of them. Now it’s time to dig in and see if there is any other damage.
This Bronco was equipped without the optional bumper and skid plates, but currently has aftermarket options on order. We knew to be careful and were cautious of what we did before then. It wasn’t noticed that the exit had the protrusion until the vehicle hit it and bottomed out. While we aren’t worried about the panels, we are worried about the damage that may be hidden under them.
This goes to show you that even if you are careful, a small obstacle can turn into a big problem. Be aware of what might happen on the trails and take precautions to protect your rig and especially yourself and passengers in your vehicles.
