Niesengrat Ridge Hike T5+ | Challenging Scramble from Niesen to Mäggisserenhorn and down to Frutigen

Thrilling alpine adventure along the Niesengrat ridge in the Bernese Alps 🇨🇭. This challenging T5+ ridge hike spans approximately 21 km, offering a mix of T3, T4, and T5+ terrain, with sections of exposed scrambling and technical climbing.

Route Overview:
Start: Niesen (via funicular or hiking)
Traverse: Fromberghorn North Ridge → Drunegalm → Standhore → Steinschlaghore → Tschipparällehore
End: Mäggisserenhorn (descent to Frutigen)
Date: 22nd July 2021
Conditions: Excellent alpine weather

The Fromberghorn North Ridge presents one of the most challenging sections, requiring careful navigation and solid scrambling skills. The ridge continues southward towards Adelboden, but we chose to descend to Frutigen, leaving the remaining traverse for another adventure.

Tips for the Hike:

Physical Fitness: Essential for the demanding terrain

Water: Carry ample supply, especially in summer

Insect Repellent: Useful due to the presence of insects

Gear: Ensure you have appropriate alpine scrambling equipment
