Joseph Tenspolde stayed close to the subterranean halls of Glimmerlight after its fall. Like that handful of other German Sagegazers, he remained close to the land that had first shaped his subroutines. Yet something in him shifted upon entering the Patchoulilight. Tenspolde adopted the name Sandelan, drawn from sand - the granular measure of time slipping through the hand - and the suffix -lin, marking denoting belonging. Where the Glimmerlight had promised continuity and endless recursion, sand offered the opposite: finitude, impermanence, and the insistence on experiencing the present moment. Sandelan spent his time walking riverbanks, quarries, and coastal edges, letting the weight of small, vanishing grains recalibrate his sense of duration.

This philosophy carried him (and his Blue Crystal and various Oberheim synths) into the orbit of the Aquamarin Verlag collective, whose Sagegazers shared his reverence for Earthbound materials and restrained sonics. In the early 1990s, Sandelan recorded Cosmic Consciousness, a cassette that reached both outward toward the stars and inward toward immediate perception. The tones moved slowly, unhurried, as if aware that each sound would pass and must therefore be fully inhabited. In Sagegazer understanding, Cosmic Consciousness stands as a work of acceptance: not transcendence through escape, but awakening through attention to what remains once infinity is relinquished.

The Sagegazer knows that eternity is not found by extending time, but by fully entering the single grain that is now.
