A study led by Harvard professor David Keith suggests that carbon capture technology could be used to create renewable fuels from CO2. Carbon Engineering (CE) has developed a Direct Air Capture (DAC) plant that captures CO2 from the air and converts it into synthetic fuels. The process is cost-effective, with estimates ranging from $94 to $242 per ton of usable CO2. The captured CO2 can also be stored underground, reducing emissions. However, to make a significant impact, more plants will be needed. This technology offers a viable solution for producing carbon-neutral fuels and removing carbon in the long run.
