SONG INSPIRATION: After purchasing my MacBook Pro this past summer in '10, I finally had the chance to dink around on Garageband whenever I wanted to. One night while I was finishing up some final touches on the song Forget You, I stumbled across a melodic loop named, "Scottish Bog Harp 10." As soon as I heard the loop, I knew I had to try and put a beat behind it. Putting the song Forget You on hold for the rest of the night, I took a nosedive into mixing a song that would carry a Scottish/tribal/club feel to it. I'm not too sure why I wanted to go off on such a tangent; half of me thought it was going to be a lost cause trying to successfully fuse such vast musical genres (seeing as I've never really heard of a song doing it before), yet the other half of me thought that because no one has really done it before, I have all the more reason to try making one. Not only that, but as I have said before, I like to challenge myself with each song I write by trying to incorporate a certain musicality in each song. With Breathe, I tried to incorporate guitar harmonics and in Forget You, I tried to utilize the ever-so-popular Auto-tune in my vocal lines. Well with this new song La La, I tried to make the entire song out of "loops" I found using Garageband and all Apple Jampaks. In essence, it would be the same as if I tried to make a picture of my own using only a limited number of random puzzle pieces given to me. But even with only having premade loops for me to choose from, I feel that I still was able to do the Scottish/tribal/club scene some justice. I hope that with this song, people will realize that even the most unlikely elements and styles can be brought about into musical harmony.
