Astrophotographers Can't See Gorillas. Are we processing out the good stuff?

Why don't we see things? How did astrophotographers miss a huge nebula whose apparent position is right next to the Andromeda Galaxy? This video aims to find out. Part of it may be related to attention and expectations. Part of it might be do to noise reduction! Let's discuss!
