Walking Bach – Jesus bleibet meine Freude: Walking Bach is a groovy variation of the well-known theme from Bach’s cantata BWV 147, featuring the swing eighths, walking bass figures and chromatic chords of jazz. The original melody is varied in both the right and the left hand. One striking feature of this piece is the use of the B-flat–A–C–B theme in the walking bass figure – in bars 24–29 it even appears in a twelve-tone row. In the B section, typical jazz harmonic progressions playfully evoke the original chorale.
