Abstract:
In several areas, photonics has been providing new solutions to humanity. For instance, the majority of the data traffic on the planet is carried through optical fiber transmission, which also serves as the backbone of the current communication infrastructure. On the other hand, remarkable improvements in multidisciplinary (physical, chemical, biological, environment, etc.) sensing applications have also been facilitated by optical fibers-based sensors. These two niche features of optical fibers would play a crucial role in developing future green and intelligent optical technologies, and hence an essential element of the internet of everything (IoE). This forum will bring together professionals in the field of photonics to shed some light on recent advancements in these optical fiber field applications.
