Street Fighter II’: Champion Edition is a 1993 port of Capcom’s iconic arcade fighting game, released for the PC Engine (known as the TurboGrafx-16 outside Japan). Developed by Capcom and published by NEC Avenue, it was one of the most ambitious home conversions of its time, faithfully recreating the arcade experience on an 8-bit console with a 16-bit graphics processor.
The game features all twelve characters from the arcade version, including the four boss characters—Balrog, Vega, Sagat, and M. Bison—now playable for the first time. Players can engage in mirror matches and enjoy refined gameplay balance compared to the original Street Fighter II: The World Warrior.
Praised for its impressive technical achievement and responsive controls, the PC Engine version remains one of the most remarkable fighting game ports of the early 1990s.
