Where have we been all this time?
No, we weren’t abducted by aliens or transported to another dimension - although at times, it has felt so.
Since returning from our Autumn Van Life Photography Tour, we’ve been through a lingering illness that left me uninspired and feeling like I didn’t have much to share.
This illness didn’t affect me as much physically as it did mentally and emotionally. It felt more like a dementor attack than a typical winter flu or cold. I lacked the energy to get off the couch, and my creativity tanked as my life force dwindled. It has been a long road back to even considering creating a video.
Winter has long been a season of going inward and self-reflection. The short days and long, cold nights are perfect for slowing down and cuddling up by a warm fire. But, our modern busy lifestyles don’t permit us to slow down and take time to reflect. Is it possible that if we don’t take that time for ourselves, we unintentionally put ourselves into a situation where it’s the only option?
I finally resigned to let go of my normal schedule and reflected on the many blessings of the past year’s travel and the people and pets I hold dear and easily found myself in a place of profound gratitude.
It is from that gratitude and joy that this video took form. Pouring over a year’s worth of footage and crafting our story of the ups and downs of long-term travel was very healing.
We hope that we can all find love, hope, and healing through gratitude for the special moments in our lives.
