Here's a quick tutorial on making a card using free motion quilting to create an applique design.
I'm using a light weight cardstock I picked up at Michael's Craftstore. I recommend using a universal 90/14 needle. I also recommend not using the needle on fabric after quilting through paper.
The machine is a Janome Quilt Maker 15000, with the QO foot, but you can do this with any sewing machine set up for free motion quilting. I also have a sew slip mat on my machine, which is wonderful for quilting quilts, but a bit of a pain with this card and probably not needed. I do wear my Machiner's gloves any time I'm quilting.
