Today we remove the wheelhouse frames for finishing in our workshop. The plan initially was to finish the construction of the wheelhouse on board but the weather plays such a big factor in what can be done there. So as the finished boat cannot be transported by road if the wheelhouse is fixed, due to height restrictions to go under bridges etc. So the plan is to nearly finish in the workshop, then do a trial fit on board. When all of it is deemed to be satisfactory, it will be removed and finally fitted when the boat is in the water. We will hire a 60 foot low loader so it will be transported on the rear, behind the boat to overcome the height problems. Then whilst we have the crane for lifting Wearmouth into the water, the wheelhouse can be lifted on board to do the final fit at that time.
Work is progressing slowly, but then we are all volunteers mostly retired of pension age and above, generally working between one and three 4-5 hour days per week.
