Why is ice cold?
Imagine that heat (warmth) is like a source of energy.
Your body is like a heater: Your hand is warm because your body always creates heat (about 37°C).
The ice cube is "hungry" for heat: The ice cube is the opposite. It is very cold (0°C or lower) and it doesn't have much heat.
The heat robbery: When you touch the ice, because the ice is "hungry," it steals the warmth from your hand so it can melt into water.
The cold feeling: At this moment, your hand loses its warmth, so the nerves in your hand tell your brain: "Oh no, I'm losing heat! It's so cold!"
In short: Ice feels cold not because it puts "coldness" into your hand, but because it takes the "hotness" away from you!
