আঠেরো বছরের জন্মদিনের দিন বৃষ্টি তার বাবার সঙ্গে দেখা করতে যাচ্ছে। বাবার সঙ্গে আজ তার বোঝাপড়া। বৃষ্টি জানে আজ থেকে সে সাবালক। নিজের মর্জির মালিক। সেই ছোট্টবেলায় আদালতে তাকে বলা হয়েছিল এই আঠেরো বছর হলেই সে বেছে নিতে পারবে, কার কাছে সে থাকতে চায়। বৃষ্টি যা চায় তাই হবে। যা চায়? কী চায় বৃষ্টি? মায়ের সঙ্গে এত বছর থেকেও তাদের মধ্যে এখন বিস্তর দূরত্ব। আর বাবা? সে তো এখন আর শুধু বৃষ্টির বাবা নয়! তাহলে তার সঙ্গে কী বোঝাপড়া করবে বৃষ্টি!
