Hello everyone and welcome to The Printed Word Bookstore in Portsmouth, VA!
We’re a black-owned woman-owned indie bookstore here in Churchland and we have quite a neat little spot!
Our books are predominantly by black authors or showcase black characters, however we have
quite a mix of books from all backgrounds on our shelves.
We have history books, biographies, memoirs, religious books, new and pre-loved fiction and
nonfiction, poetry, classics, sports, and other genres throughout the store.
We’ve hosted book launches and signings, private date nights, story time, book clubs, and other
special events in the community here in Portsmouth.
We pray you get a good sense of what we have to offer right here and Hampton Roads and
can’t wait for you to stop by!
