Real Guns Of Fallout: Did They Get The 10mm Wrong?

The Fallout Universe is one of my most favoritest things. It manages to be dark, sinister, gritty, and ultra-violent while at the same time maintaining a light and quirky sense of humor. If you have never played any of the games, you are really missing out. The Fallout series of games are set in an alternate future after a nuclear holocaust in the year 2077. But it’s a future as it might have looked from the 1950’s. Imagine what Tomorrowland would look like if violent meth addicts took over. And I love every radiated and crumbling inch of it.

If you have been following this channel, you know that I will absolutely let 10mm get to third base with me on the first date. So you knew damned well that I would be making one of these videos on best millimeter.
In Fallout, 10mm ammunition is ubiquitous. Second only to .38, it can be found virtually everywhere. Any time you search a corpse or ammo box, there is a strong possibility that you will find a few 10mm rounds. Counting just the base damage for each type, 10mm is more powerful than .38 but less powerful than .45 in the game.
Without considering any legendary versions and before adding any mods to the gun, the 10mm pistol is reasonably effective in all of the Fallout games. It holds 12 rounds, fires reasonably quickly and is reasonably powerful. Not remotely OP. It’s just a nice balance of capacity, speed, and power.
Of course, it isn’t long before you begin applying mods to the guns in Fallout 4 and the 10mm pistol has a lot of available mods as well as some fun legendary effects. This one has the explosive legendary effect, along with automatic receiver, and a large, quick eject magazine. It’s a great deal of fun for hosing ghouls at close range.
Even as the game progresses, the 10mm remains relevant and useful, if for no other reason than the low action point cost for firing it. This is even more true of the Deliverer unique weapon, which you can find during one of the Railroad quests. It has an improved chance of hitting in VATS and costs fewer action points to fire. Oddly, it has the same default magazine size as the regular 10mm pistol. I found myself continuing to use the Deliverer all the way through the game, in spite of how ridiculous it looks to shoot that tiny little thing while wearing power armor.
