The OnDemand feature in the thinkorswim desktop trading platform allows traders to rewind the market and practice trading as if it were live, without risking real capital. In this video, I walk through how to use OnDemand step-by-step, including loading past market sessions, watching price action unfold in real time, placing trades, and managing positions using the same tools available during live trading.

We’ll also discuss what OnDemand is best used for — and its limitations. While it’s a powerful way to practice execution, refine rules-based strategies, and build confidence with the platform, it’s not a guarantee of future performance. All examples are shown using the paperMoney environment for educational purposes only, with a focus on process, risk management, and realistic expectations.
