The differences between men and women are remarkable, but they go much beyond the surface level assumptions that we all often make. Dr. Perreault takes her audience on a deep dive into the world of science and medicine, and discusses the vast differences in research between men and women. Dr. Melissa Perreault is a professor at the University of Guelph within the department of Molecular and Cellular Biology. Melissa’s current primary research has a specific interest in understanding the mechanistic processes underlying the cognitive impairments that are associated with depression, schizophrenia, and Alzheimer’s disease. Dr. Perreault is a citizen of the Métis Nation of Ontario and serves on various institutional and non-institutional committees to promote Equity, Diversity and Inclusion. In her talk, Melissa will be exploring sex and gender differences that are commonly found in mental health research.
