Council grants fund investment in Rileys Hill Community Hall

The Rileys Hill Community Hall was one of 16 local organisations and clubs to receive vital funding under the first round of Council's community financial assistance program for the 2019-2020 financial year.

In total, $36,150 was distributed by Council to a wide range of organisations, from sporting clubs, soup kitchens, and men’s sheds, to community centres, halls and charities.

The funding enables the purchase of essential infrastructure and upgrades.

Examples include $500 for a new commercial grill for the Casino Community Soup Kitchen, $2000 for a projector and screen for the Evans Head Recreation Hall, $3000 for new furniture and signage for the Greenridge Memorial Hall, and $3828 for the Evans Head Men’s Shed, for a laptop and laser printer, and shade cloth for open days and events.

Local sporting clubs to receive funding included the Casino District Cricket Association, which received $752 towards slidable sight screens for the QE7 cricket field, and $5000 for the Casino Tennis Club for a major upgrade of its kitchen facilities, to ensure it meets safety standards.

Council has allocated $75,000 in the 2019-2020 financial year for the Community Financial Assistance Program, to be delivered over two funding rounds.

• $249 for the Broadwater Rileys Hill Community Centre to purchase a semi-commercial vacuum cleaner for the Broadwater Hall.

• $500 for the Casino Community Soup Kitchen to purchase a commercial bistro contact grill to prepare and cook quick, healthy and economical food.

• $1480 for the Casino Croquet Club to purchase new balls and hoops suitable for competition games and to attract new members.

• $752 for the Casino District Cricket Association to build slidable sight screens at both northern and southern ends of QE7 cricket field.

• $3150 for the Casino Sport and Recreation Association Inc to purchase an inflatable obstacle course for Inclusion Games.

• $5000 for the Casino Town Tennis Club Inc to upgrade the kitchen facilities in the clubhouse, including flooring, cupboards, benchtops, sink and stove to meet safety standards.

• $1000 for the Evans Head District Cricket Club Inc to purchase second-hand roller to maintain new turf wicket.

• $3828.60 Evans Head Men’s Shed Inc for the purchase of a laptop, laser photocopier/printer for training/administration, and shade cloth for open days and events.

• $2000 for the Evans Head Recreation Hall to purchase projector and screen for use by people hiring the hall.

• $4000 for the Evans Head Wardell Presbyterian Churches for a new outdoor play space for community playgroup at Evans Head.

• $3000 for the Greenridge Memorial Hall and Social Activities Club Inc to replace and increase the number of tables and chairs in the hall, as well as an urn, new sign at front of the hall and a weather resistant community noticeboard.

• $2500 for the Mid-Richmond Neighbourhood Centre to purchase equipment to support food literacy program for NDIS participants.

• $2004.44 for the Rileys Hill Community Hall for the installation of three lockable metal cabinets to improve hall storage.

• $1250 for the Rotary Club of Casino Inc for the continued support of weekly breakfast program at Casino West Public School.

• $1437 for the Scouts Australia NSW Branch 2nd Casino Scout Group to purchase a high-quality esky and vandal-proof outdoor noticeboard.

• $3999.51 for St Mark’s Anglican Church Parish of Casino to replace two aged domestic refrigerators in St Mark’s Main Hall kitchen.
