For decades, Syria’s prisons were black holes where people vanished—tens of thousands arrested for nothing more than attending a protest, speaking out, or simply being in the wrong place at the wrong time. Once inside, most were never seen again. Their families, left in silence, too afraid to ask questions, knowing they too could disappear just as easily.

The most feared of them all? Sednaya Prison — a place so brutal it was called the 'Human Slaughterhouse'. A facility designed not just to imprison, but to break people. Extreme torture, starvation, executions — it’s believed that the majority of prisoners sent there never made it out .

But now, for the first time since the Assads lost power, those left behind can finally ask: 'What happened to our loved ones?'

Today, I’m stepping inside these prisons, walking through the same cells where thousands were held, coming face to face with the horrific remains of a regime built on fear. And in a chilling discovery coming across the infamous **pressing machine**—a torture device whispered about by survivors, but never before seen.

Syria may be liberated, but only now are the scars beginning to show.
