PRK - PhotoRefractive Keratectomy
Stromal haze occurs to some degree after PRK due to the ablation of tissue. However, once the cornea fully remodels it returns to normal after 12 months. When the stromal haze is more than what is expected this could be due to inflammation or infection although these cases are extremely rare. These cases can also be treated with steroids to reduce the opacity.
