My wife and I just picked up a new-to-us BCS Professional 850 walk behind tractor with a tiller, snowblower, and power broom. We’re looking forward to using it on the farm this season, but it won’t start! Join me as I start diagnostics in real-time, so you can hear what I’m thinking about, looking at, and how I work on narrowing down the issue. I may have ended up confusing my self more than solving issues, but perhaps you can learn from, or enjoy the process, as well as understand what can go into troubleshooting something.
Note that as I’m talking about the ‘ground/kill circuit’ around the 20 minute mark, I was getting the operation of the ignition circuit confused. Grounding the magneto kills the spark, and consequently the engine. My mistake was thinking that the magneto had to be grounded to run, which is backwards. At 21:59 I start to realize my mistake
