This is the 2/15/1979 Indiana State at Southern Illinois game. This was Larry Bird's senior year. 1976 Indiana was the last team in history to go undefeated through the tournament. That I can recall there are only 2 teams that seriously challenged that feat since. 1978/79 Indiana State and 2014/15 Kentucky. Indiana State had a lot of relatively close game in this season but won them all. This was the closest. You have to wonder if they would have recieved the credit Indiana did if they had beaten Michigan State. Probably, because of Larry Bird. I'd say not until Bird's illustrious NBA career unfolded though. This is a local TV broadcast with ISU Radio. The game is joined in progress. I claim no rights.
