Windsor Castle has been one of three official residences of the Crown for over 900 years, since William the Conqueror. It is the oldest and largest castles in the world. The Magma Carta was signed 5 miles downriver at Runnymede.
The castle is filled with amazing art, china, and weaponry from the days of England's glory. The ceremonial rooms were magnificent, with frescoes on the ceilings, huge full-wall tapestries, and the works of many recognizable "Great Artists." Unfortunately photography is not allowed inside. The charming town of Eton is just across the bridge over the Thames River. The town is replete with pubs and little gift shops. It is also the home to the prestigious Eton College.
