I play the lead and rhythm guitar ,bass guitar, piano ,timpani.
Only drum and vocals used original sound by the beatles.
There are various theories about this song. It was recorded over two days, September 29th and 30th, 1964. George was late or absent from work on the first day, so the 12-string guitar wasn't used. Some say John played it, but the intro first appears in the ninth take on the 30th. This leads us to speculate that the 12-string guitar was overdubbed on that day.
So, this begs the question: how did the first 9 takes, which supposedly lack an intro, begin?
From here on, it's all speculation, but it's possible that John originally had the idea for the intro melody and initially recorded the intro riff on a 6-string guitar as a guide.
This is why the basic track (drums, bass, acoustic guitar) has the acoustic guitar body being struck by hand as a count to account for the timing of the intro.
And it seems natural that George would then overdub his 12-string guitar performance based on that timing.
The intro sound isn't 100% 12-string, and it's possible that John's 6-string guitar playing is also playing alongside the 12-string guitar. This is just a guess...
