Paul has had a terrible day at work, secretly performing the brutal and state-sanctioned 'Cut' on members of the underclass to keep them tame and compliant. As the cracks start to show, can the loving embrace of his wife save him from the abyss that threatens?

If you would like to get involved in actor training at the City Lit, you might consider auditioning for next year’s Foundation course, which starts in September 2016 and runs through to the beginning of June 2017 (while another intake will also begin in January).

The groups run at different times during the week, in order to accommodate as many different lifestyles as possible — one group meets on two weekday evenings, one all day on Fridays, and this group meets all day on Saturdays. The course runs for 6 hours, 40 minutes each week and lasts for 30 weeks.

The course offers a disciplined and structured training in movement, voice, and acting skills. It is recognised by Drama UK as a principal feeder course for vocational training and is accredited by the Open College Network, which enables the acquisition of credits towards Higher Education.

You should have completed at least one introductory and one follow-on course in acting (either at the City Lit or elsewhere) or have comparable experience. Regular attendance is essential. We generally do not accept students under 19; there is no upper age limit.

Auditions will take place during the daytime from Tuesday 19th to Friday 22nd July. You would need to memorise and prepare a speech from a contemporary play (written sometime since the 1960s), which should last no longer than two minutes. You would take part in a day-long group session, in which you would experience movement, voice, and acting exercises. There is a non-returnable £15 audition fee and you would need to provide two passport-sized photographs.
