“Fantasia,” a Guzheng solo composed by Jianmin Wang, is a contemporary piece that blends Western compositional techniques with musical elements from southwestern China, including folk songs, dances, and percussion. The result is a modern composition that retains strong national characteristics.
This Guzheng composition, inspired by "Fantasy," vividly depicts a scene: nestled within the Miao mountains, the gentle voice of a young girl echoes softly, uplifting and soothing. As her singing draws nearer, the music becomes increasingly distinct and expressive.
