The loneliness that comes from the disconnection from self when we’re gay and in a straight marriage is awful. It’s the loneliness that comes from being disconnected from our authentic selves.
My friend Andrew Reid has courageously shared his story of being gay while married to a woman. It’s a story of wishing his gay away and throwing himself into work and working out to feel seen, heard and that he belonged.
I know that Andrew’s story will help others, for I know it would have helped me when I was in his situation myself.

Andrew is a man making his way through life in a regional city in the Australian state of Victoria. He’s the father of three young humans, owns his own business, loves keeping fit and came out as gay after a 14-year marriage to a woman.
