A Vietnam veteran who was homeless for 30 years has been presented with his war medals at a ceremony in the New South Wales Hunter region.
Alwyn Craig is a man of few words but has a remarkable story to tell.
The 76-year-old, also known as "Old Pete" or "Shorty", is a familiar character around Newcastle.
Until earlier this year, Mr Craig's family had not seen him since 1994.
Thanks to John Cross, a friend of 10 years who works for charity City Sleep Safe, and a Newcastle Herald article, the family was reunited.
